The Santiago de Compostela to Finisterre & Muxia Way
Experience two ‘ends of the Earth’ by walking through lush green countryside to Finisterre and then the fishing village of Muxía. Watching the sun sink into the ocean from both of these places is a profound experience and a wonderful way to end your journey.
The Jacobean Way of Fisterra Muxía is the most faithful depiction of the historical cry of the pilgrim, who exclaimed “Ultreia” (Still further!). And it really is further than the goal in Compostela after having venerated the remains of the apostle St. James when many pilgrims decide to discover the end of the world and do not hesitate to overcome the sacrifices of the harsh days behind them to walk some
more days.
The history of this route is a mixture of paganism and a later process of Christianisation. In the twelfth century, Codex Calixtinus already links this Way with Jacobean tradition. Furthermore, two of the most popular religious devotions in Galicia are based in Fisterra and Muxía: the Santo Cristo of Fisterra of whom Molina (16th century) states that “more pilgrims come to him than to the Apostle” and the sanctuary of the Virxe da Barca in Muxía.

Cancellation Policy:
A $500 deposit is required at the time of registration. Full payment must be received by 90 days prior to leaving for your tour or retreat.
- Any cancellation will result in a total loss of your deposit.
- If you must cancel your reservation, your money will be refunded minus the deposit up until 90 days prior to the beginning of the tour or retreat.
- After 90 days prior to the beginning of the tour or retreat, no refunds will be made.
We reserve the right to cancel the trip, should we do so your deposit and all monies paid will be refunded in full.
