The Portuguese Camino de Santiago
Tour Number 1
The Portuguese Camino de Santiago
The Portuguese Camino de Santiago also know as The Caminho Português has been one of the main pilgrimage routes to Santiago for centuries. Set out on a journey of discovery, not only of the country but of yourself as you follow in the footsteps of countless pilgrims and walkers.
This self-guided tour travels northwards through ancient paths in beautiful rural countryside, passing vineyards, woods, farms, tiny hamlets and small villages, towns and historic cities.
This is a route enriched by the presence of chapels, churches, convents, stone altars usually found at crossroads and wayside crosses. You will stay in three star hotels on this tour.
Choose Happiness Adventures reserves your nightly accommodations and will have your baggage transported each morning to the your next hotel. If you choose our dinner option, we will also arrange for dinners of fabulous local cuisine and delicious local wines for you.
You will begin your adventure in the old city of Porto, Portugal. Porto is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth exploring. Don’t forget Porto is famous for its Port Wine Caves – no trip to Porto is complete without a visit to at least one of these Caves.
You will be transported from your hotel in the center of the old city to Mosteiró where you will begin your walk to Santiago. The walk to Santiago winds it way through some of the most beautiful countryside Portugal has to offer.
Our Roadbook contains all the tips and information you need to easily follow the Português Caminho de Santiago and to understand and appreciate what you see while you walk this route. We’ll make suggestions for when and where you could stop for lunch as well as things that might be worth a slight detour.
